Description: This community is found in interdune swales on barrier islands along the Alabama Gulf coast. Taxodium ascendens dominates the closed canopy. Magnolia virginiana dominates the open to closed subcanopy. Cladium mariscus ssp. jamaicense dominates the closed herb stratum. In addition to the nominals, other characteristic species include Cyrilla racemiflora, Persea palustris, Morella cerifera (= Myrica cerifera), and Rhynchospora miliacea. Herbaceous components can include the ferns Woodwardia virginica and Osmunda regalis.
