Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This community is common in the Klamath-Siskiyou Region of Oregon and probably also occurs in California and in the southern Cascades. Stands are usually on convex topography at mid-slopes and are found at elevations of 1160-1680 m (3800-5500 feet) on all but northern aspects. This mixed-conifer forest association has a lush understory. Abies lowiana usually dominates the tree canopy with lesser cover of Abies magnifica var. shastensis, Calocedrus decurrens, and Pseudotsuga menziesii. Typical understory plants include Ribes spp., Osmorhiza purpurea, Actaea rubra, and Melica subulata.
