Description: This forest association grows between 700-1150 m of elevation on all aspects. Stands are normally found on fairly flat topography on mid to upper slope positions. Sites are restricted to the drier portions of the western Siskiyou Mountains. Parent materials are metamorphosed sediments and volcanics, sometimes moderated serpentine. <i>Pseudotsuga menziesii</i> dominates the overstory tree canopy with some <i>Pinus lambertiana</i> present. <i>Pseudotsuga menziesii, Notholithocarpus densiflorus, Arbutus menziesii</i>, and <i>Chrysolepis chrysophylla</i> are all found in the understory canopy. <i>Chimaphila umbellata</i> is the most common shrub.
