Name: Populus angustifolia / Salix ligulifolia - Shepherdia argentea Riparian Woodland
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This riparian woodland has an extremely limited distribution in western Colorado. Historically, it was more widespread and common in broad river valleys. Overutilization by livestock and alterations in the river flow regime have caused a decline in its distribution. Stands have an open, broad-leaved deciduous tree canopy dominated by Populus angustifolia with a broad-leaved deciduous shrub layer codominated by Salix ligulifolia and Shepherdia argentea.
