Description: This plant association is described in Idaho from the Centennial Mountains and in Wyoming from the Greys River drainage and the eastern Wyoming Range. The stands are at mid to upper elevations in seeps at the base of slopes and along streams. Soils are reported as organic at the surface. <i>Salix wolfii</i> forms discontinuous shrub cover in stands. <i>Betula glandulosa</i> may also be present. <i>Carex nebrascensis</i> or <i>Carex simulata</i> dominates the understory. Other associated species include <i>Deschampsia cespitosa, Symphyotrichum foliaceum, Pedicularis groenlandica</i>, and <i>Polemonium occidentale</i>.
