Name: Eriogonum douglasii / Poa secunda Dwarf-shrub Grassland
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This scabland association is characterized by cespitose, drought-resistant plants. Stands are documented from Hells Canyon in Oregon and Idaho, and south-central Washington. Sites are typically ridgetops and plateaus at elevations of 950-1525 m (3100-5000 feet), and occur on a variety of aspects with slopes less than 13%. Soils are typically silt loams or loams with gravel that increases in size to boulders lower in the stratum. Bedrock is typically basalt. Vegetation cover is dominated by Eriogonum douglasii and Poa secunda. Other associated species include Elymus elymoides ssp. elymoides, Sedum spp., Lomatium cous, Viola trinervata, and Arabis holboellii. There is typically 15-40% cover of surface rock (gravel).
