Description: This community occurs in barrier island depressions of the Atlantic Coast of North (and possibly South) Carolina. This is a brackish, non-tidal, seasonally flooded community including the wettest parts of non-tidal ponds with brackish water from hurricane flooding, storm tides, or island overwash. Stands are dominated by <i>Leptochloa fusca ssp. fascicularis</i> and <i>Sesuvium maritimum</i>. Other characteristic species include <i>Bacopa monnieri, Pluchea odorata var. odorata, Eleocharis parvula</i>.
