Description:
This community occurs in seasonally flooded, short hydroperiod situations in depressional wetlands. At Paynes Prairie (a 6000-hectare basin in the Florida peninsula), this community has the shortest hydroperiod of the various graminoid-dominated communities. It is dominated by various mixtures of <i>Andropogon capillipes, Andropogon glaucopsis, Andropogon glomeratus var. hirsutior, Andropogon virginicus, Rhynchospora fascicularis var. fascicularis, Rhynchospora microcarpa, Juncus marginatus, Sesbania vesicaria</i>, and <i>Rhexia mariana</i>. Other characteristic species are <i>Eupatorium capillifolium, Panicum hemitomon, Eupatorium mohrii, Ludwigia suffruticosa, Ludwigia microcarpa, Hibiscus grandiflorus, Rhynchospora caduca, Euthamia caroliniana, Fimbristylis</i> sp., <i>Hydrocotyle</i> spp., <i>Ptilimnium capillaceum, Boehmeria cylindrica, Paspalum notatum</i>, and <i>Paspalum urvillei</i>.
