Description: This saturated longleaf pine - pond pine woodland community occurs in the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain of North Carolina. It is only found on the wettest loamy or silty soils. Stands are dominated by <i>Pinus palustris</i> and <i>Pinus serotina</i>. The shrub layer is characterized by the presence of <i>Magnolia virginiana</i>; the herbaceous stratum typically contains <i>Sporobolus teretifolius</i> and <i>Carex striata</i>.
