Name: Baccharis halimifolia Ruderal Shrubland
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: As currently described, this vegetation includes successional shrublands dominated by Baccharis halimifolia on saturated soils both in the interior Coastal Plain of Louisiana and Arkansas and along the Gulf Coast of Texas. Coastal settings include shrublands dominated by Baccharis halimifolia that invade old fields and saline and non-saline prairies in the absence of fire. In these settings, Spartina spartinae, Andropogon virginicus, Andropogon glomeratus, Setaria parviflora, and Solidago sempervirens are often present in the herb stratum. With periodic fire, this association will revert to ~Spartina spartinae Grassland (CEGL004608)$$. Apparently, this association also includes vegetation of the interior Coastal Plain occurring in disturbed settings on saturated soils.
