Description: This emergent marsh is dominated by broad-leaved, aerenchymatous plants along pondshores, lakeshores, impoundments, and quiet riverbanks in the northeastern United States and elsewhere. This marsh occurs in shallow to deep standing water usually on muck soils. Common species include <i>Pontederia cordata, Sagittaria latifolia, Peltandra virginica</i>, and <i>Sparganium</i> spp. Additional emergent species include <i>Eleocharis palustris, Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani, Acorus calamus, Nuphar variegata, Nymphaea odorata, Sium suave</i>, and submerged species including <i>Ceratophyllum demersum</i> and <i>Utricularia macrorhiza</i>.
