Description: Community occurs in the northern Piedmont of New Jersey, in steep-sloped, elongated wetland basins, characterized by cool microclimates and saturated soils. Tree species include <i>Betula alleghaniensis, Acer rubrum, Tsuga canadensis, Liriodendron tulipifera</i>, and rarely <i>Amelanchier</i> sp. Shrubs include <i>Lindera benzoin, Viburnum dentatum, Clethra alnifolia</i>, and <i>Vaccinium corymbosum</i>. A blanket of <i>Sphagnum</i> sp. covers the ground. Associated herbs include <i>Onoclea sensibilis, Osmunda cinnamomea, Lycopus uniflorus, Symplocarpus foetidus, Maianthemum canadense</i>, and <i>Trientalis borealis</i>.
