Name: Salix nigra / Morella cerifera Ruderal Wet Forest
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This Salix nigra swamp forest is documented near Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana, and probably occurs in other parts of the outer coastal plains, including the deltaic plain. It is composed of a nearly pure willow canopy and dense shrub layer dominated by Morella cerifera. This community is apparently the result of cutting and alteration of former Taxodium distichum swamps.
