Name: Phyllostachys aurea Exotic Ruderal Shrubland Alliance
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This alliance encompasses exotic bamboo-dominated vegetation that occurs in the eastern United States on sites that were cleared and the soils disturbed (e.g., old fields, abandoned quarries, old homesteads). These are combinations of taxa for which no natural analog exists. Any of several bamboo species could dominate, but Phyllostachys aurea is the most often documented dominant component. These are most often essentially monodominant stands, but other native and exotic species can also occur.
