Name: Populus deltoides Ruderal Upland Forest Alliance
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This alliance includes upland, non-floodplain sites where Populus deltoides has established after significant disturbance. Conditions that favor the establishment of Populus deltoides typically arise after an area has been cleared to the bare mineral soil. The canopy is often moderately open (~60%). The understory is strongly dominated by exotic or weedy native species. The shrub layer ranges from moderately dense to absent. The herbaceous layer can be thick and dominated by grasses, though the nature of and time since the most recent disturbance often affect this. Soils are usually coarse.
