Description: A semi-evergreen dwarf desert shrubland on gypsum-influenced soils of the Trans-Pecos in western Texas, with ~Tiquilia hispidissima (= Coldenia hispidissima)$ as a constant component. ~Anulocaulis gypsogenus, Artemisia filifolia, Bouteloua breviseta, Bouteloua trifida, Ephedra torreyana, Gaillardia multiceps, Krameria lanceolata, Mentzelia humilis, Mentzelia humilis, Nama carnosum, Nerisyrenia linearifolia, Sartwellia flaveriae, Selinocarpus$ spp., ~Sporobolus airoides, Sporobolus nealleyi, Thelesperma megapotamicum, Yucca elata, Yucca torreyi$, along with several cactus species, are typical associates. Substrate ranges from wind-blown gypsum dunes to nearly bare gyp deposits, and plant species composition varies accordingly. These shrublands occur within a matrix of xeromorphic shrubland and may form landscape mosaics with other gyp-tolerant associations in alternately wet and dry habitats.
