Description: This mixed-conifer/hardwood association occurs locally in southern Oregon and possibly northern California. The dominant overstory trees are <i>Pseudotsuga menziesii, Pinus lambertiana</i>, and <i>Chamaecyparis lawsoniana</i>. Understory trees include <i>Tsuga heterophylla, Abies lowiana</i>, and <i>Chamaecyparis lawsoniana</i>. Important shrubs are <i>Quercus sadleriana, Gaultheria shallon</i>, and <i>Rhododendron macrophyllum</i>. Typical herbs are <i>Linnaea borealis</i> and <i>Chimaphila menziesii</i>. Elevations range from 760-1220 m (2500-4000 feet). Soils are well-drained sandy loams, sandy clay loams, and silt loams underlain by granitic, dioritic, or sandstone parent material.
