Description: This association occurs in elongated interdune swales on coastal islands and peninsulas in the outer East Gulf Coastal Plain of the southeastern United States, from Alabama and Florida. Stands typically contain <i>Eleocharis elongata, Panicum tenerum</i>, and <i>Nymphaea odorata</i>. Other characteristic species include <i>Eleocharis equisetoides, Dichanthelium erectifolium, Rhynchospora tracyi</i>, and <i>Rhynchospora macrostachya</i>. Isolated individuals of woody species such as <i>Cephalanthus occidentalis, Nyssa biflora</i>, and <i>Ilex cassine</i> may occur in this community, especially near its edges.
